Camping Trip on Pacuare River

We got into the river yesterday and made a day of rafting. Although we rafted a short section we made our way down slowly playing in some of the pools and evening jumping off a small rock. It was a great day and everyone loved it. The overnight rafting trip on Pacuare is really a perfect trip because you get the chance to experience not only one of the top 5 scenic rivers on the planet rated by National Geographic but also just relax in the surroundings of the rainforest.

One of my favorite parts about yesterday was getting the kids together for a very quick talk about how the trip has been going. I always asked about the homestays which usually end up being the best part about the trip. We always get a reaction from the kids that the families live simple but seem very happy.

We ended up staying up till around 11pm at the campsite playing games and just enjoying being by the river. It rained during the night and the kids got the full experience of sleeping in the rainforest has it was a pretty heavy rain. This rain allowed the river to fill a little bit and make todays run a with the perfect water level which is very unique this time of year. We are in the dry season of Costa Rica which is from mid-December to mid-April.

Right now the kids are eating and then we are going to make the two hour bus drive to the beach. Stay tuned more to come.
